Several sisters in the ward threw a baby shower for Karen who is due April 12. Beth decorated the RS Room, Tonia brought some treats and Dorias decorated this cake for her. It was well attended and fun.

Fourth snow this season
We usually don't get snow here in this part of Texas. This winter we have had four snow storms. The one on February 11 was our biggest. It was beautiful!

Robbie and Beth gave me this Armadillo for Christmas. I love it. I put a bottle of "Jackson Hole Sasparilla" in it's arms. I have it sitting on the coffee table in the family room.

Our Belated 2008 Christmas Letter
Merry Belated Christmas 2008
A lot happened in our family this year—lots of changes! First of all, on February 18 Bob turned in his papers to retire from Lockheed Martin after 26 years of service. They gave him a VERY nice bonus to retire early. Then the next day we got called into the Stake President’s office for an interview. Bob was called to be the Weatherford Ward’s new bishop. So, he became Bishop Bell on March 30 and retired on April 21.
Bob and Su took a road trip to Arkansas, Idaho and Utah after he retired. Su and her sister, Cookie, then took a road trip to Mississippi and Florida. Bob started working part time for Strategic Thought based out of Maidenhead, England in May. He works out of his home office and makes lots of trips to Washington DC and England and other places here in the States. In October, Su and Cookie got to go on one of his business trips to London, England. We also went to Edinburgh, Scotland and Paris, France while over there. Bob also continues to teach one or two graduate classes at SMU in Dallas each semester.
Su has become very good friends with Dan’s mother-in-law, Trish Ellestad. Usually they get together around food—breakfast or lunch. Tonia and their Relief Society President, Marilyn Gay, and a couple other sisters in the ward go with them a lot.
In May we cleaned out and fixed up our “Big Boy’s Room” so that the English speaking missionaries could stay there. It is wonderful having missionaries live in our home. We also found out that the Spanish speaking missionaries came with the deal, but they are only at our home 2-5 days a week. Su fixed up her sewing room with a trundle bed so that they could stay in there when they are in Weatherford. We have had a total of twelve missionaries now live with us. We get so attached to them.
All the kids got to come home for Thanksgiving—except Dan and Evan. We had a great time. For activities we went to Fossil Rim Wildlife Park near Glen Rose, Texas and to Jump Extreme here in Weatherford. It was really nice getting together with all the family.
Now for the kids:
Dorias, Mark, Matthew (14), Rebecca (12), Richard (3) and Robert (3) still live in Boerne, Texas which is near San Antonio. They got a beautiful new swimming pool in their backyard this summer. We got to go try it out for the July 4th weekend. Mark continues to work for Valero Energy as a director and travels a lot.

Rob, Beth, Lauren (11), Landon (9), Emma (6), and Eden (3) live in Poolville, Texas which is in our county. They thought about moving into town, but changed their minds. They love it in the country. Robbie still works for Dr. Rose, an orthopedic surgeon, as his office manager and is doing an internship with him.
Stephenie, Evan, Taneal (8), Camie (7), Danielle (4), Spencer (2), and Nathan (5 months) live in Tomball, Texas which is near Houston. They got to experience Hurricane Ike first hand and made it through the storm with a month old baby while Evan was away working.
Dan, Tonia, Seth (8), Katie (6) and Madison (4) moved into a new home in Weatherford just across from where they are starting to build our new Chapel/Stake Center. Dan continues to work in the oil business as a directional driller. Tonia has gone back to school at Weatherford College to become a nurse.
Michael and Karen live in Fishers, Indiana house sitting for a couple while on a mission. They would love to move here to Texas where it is warmer—at least Michael would. He is working for Homeland Security.
Eric, Angela and Aaron (1 ½) live in Rexburg, Idaho while Eric goes to school and Angela is a girls’ dorm manager. They are expecting a little girl in May. Since dogs aren’t allowed in the dorms, we inherited Sugar for two years while they are at BYU-I.
Bonnie and Jarom live in Las Vegas, Nevada with their dog, Autumn. Jarom will finish dental school in about 18 months. Bonnie continues to work as a nurse there in Vegas. She competed in a triathlon this fall and did quite well.
Charles was at school at BYU-I in Rexburg, Idaho but is now home planning on going to Weatherford College. This summer he got to go to Sid Richardson Scout Ranch to help with Boy Scout summer camp; to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico with Mark and Matthew; and to the Boundary Water Canoe Area on the Minnesota/Canadian border with Bob, Eric and Matthew. He is enjoying having the missionaries live with us.
We hope this overdue Christmas letter has found you well and we hope that you will have a prosperous 2009 even though the economy isn’t doing so well. May our Heavenly Father always be with you.
